Efter Renaults store succes med Dauphine modellen blev n\u00e6ste skud p\u00e5 stammen R8. Det blev en bil som var tydeligt mere moderne end Dauphine selvom der under blikket ogs\u00e5 var mange ligheder.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chassiset var stort set u\u00e6ndret og bag vognen liges\u00e5. Motoren blev skiftet til en ligeledes mere moderne type med 5 hovedlejer. I f\u00f8rste udgave leverede motoren 44 HK fra 956cc som<\/span>\u00a0blev overf\u00f8rt gennem en 3 trins gearkasse til hjulene. Bremserne var tromler hele vejen rundt.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Dette holdt ikke l\u00e6nge for snart pr\u00e6senterede Renault Major udgaven og den blev en v\u00e6sentlig modernisering af R8. Motoren blev p\u00e5 1108cc med 43 DIN HK og der kom 4 trins fuldsynkroniseret gear kasse. Bremserne blev til 4 skiver og som advarsel til de andre trafikanter stod der “pas p\u00e5, 4 skive bremser” i bagruden, s\u00e5 var de advaret!<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Motorsports m\u00e6sigt havde Dauphine haft en virkelig stor succes og da R1093 udgaven var ved at v\u00e6re “udslidt” diskuterede Renault st\u00f8rre motor i Dauphinen plus andre \u00e6ndringer men det projekt blev droppet og man kastede sig over R8 i stedet. I 1964 pr\u00e6senterede Renault R8 Gordini og en legende var f\u00f8dt!<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hvad var det s\u00e5 man havde lavet? Man havde gjort det samme som gav succes i Dauphine Gordini nemlig en generel overhaling af bilen. Undervognen blev strammet op s\u00e5 de udm\u00e6rkede k\u00f8reegenskaber blev endnu bedre til sports brug. Stadig 4 trins gearkasse med mulighed for “close ratio gear”, bredere f\u00e6lge og lignende. Hvad skulle man s\u00e5 bruge alt dette til? Jo Gordini havde udviklet en ny motor p\u00e5 basis af Major motoren og den leverede det dobbelte af Major motoren nemlig 86 DIN HK. Med sine 752 kg blev det en rigtig hurtig bil som man skulle have en alvorlig sportsvogn for at overhale. K\u00f8reegenskaberne gjorde at hvis det var p\u00e5 snoede veje ville en overhaling nok aldrig komme p\u00e5 tale for der var Gordinien suver\u00e6n. R8 Gordini blev f\u00f8dt som en kult bil og er det stadigt!<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
